about this project

Community Logic is a research project developed on placement with A Playful City, as part of the REPIC MSC in Urban Studies.

It emerged from a collaboration with Dublin-based placemaking practitioners, A Playful City, where working together we identified a clear gap in how communities, designers, and local authorities work together to understand what change they are trying to create and how to meaningfully measure it.

Across cities, communities are increasingly asked to participate in shaping public space, yet the tools for tracking impact are often overly technical, inconsistent, or inaccessible. Community Logic was designed to address that gap.

The project builds a simple, visual, and community-led framework for agreeing shared outcomes, choosing relevant interventions, and developing a monitoring and evaluation plan that anyone can use, without specialist training.

Ultimately, this project aims to make it easier for neighbourhoods to understand what’s working, why, and for whom, so that public spaces evolve in ways that reflect the people who use them every day.
